Four Shark paddlers took part in the Sprint Regatta at Marlow: three of them for the first time. The event, part of the Marlow River festival, attracts large numbers, although continued rain at this year’s regatta dampened spirits, numbers and made conditions hard.
There were two races: a 200m sprint and a 3k race
Ladies Junior (Lightening) under 12, Kiara Sheehan, was racing for the first time in a sprint event as was her brother 14-year-old Conor, although neither made it past the heats, it was a great try in what was very poor conditions.
Joel Gunnery (14-years-old) also racing for the first time was more successful and made it through to the final of the 200m in the Junior.
Eighteen-year-old Adam Stewart produced a brilliant result by coming fourth overall in the senior sprint event, his first race as a senior and his first race this year.
