Young Brent Foundation – Narrowboat Volunteering

June 2024 – April 2025Young Brent Foundation – Expression of Interest – Volunteering on the Narrowboat

Young Brent Foundation has been successfully commissioned to take ownership of a Narrowboat along the River Brent and Grand Union Canal. To enable YBF to carry out a detailed risk assessment this winter, we wanted to explore a volunteer programme to not only clean, maintain and market the Narrowboat, but also to skipper the vessel. To that end, we are seeking volunteers aged 18+ to support our efforts.

Purpose of the role  –  This is an exciting and unique opportunity for YBF and its Narrowboat along with the Sharks Canoe Club to work with children, young people and their families young people, to travel along the Grand Union Canal in a Narrowboat or learn to Kayak or Canoe with the Sharks. This great opportunity will enable groups of children or young people to connect and discover new environments along the waterways across London. Through this process, we aim to ensure the spaces and activities are appropriate for the group in the coming years.
