Want to Race a Marathon Event?

Sunday June 23rd – in Oxford

The Falcon Canoe Club in Oxford are hosting a marathon event on Sunday June 23rd and it would be a great experience if some of our paddlers could attend. There are different distances for different standards. So why not give it a go?

The Race is at Falcon Boat Club, near Donnington Bridge, Oxford, OX4 4BJ, this is about 50 miles from our base in Harlesden and will probably take about an hour and twenty minutes to drive. The event starts at 10am, paddlers will need to be there at 9:30 at the latest.

Races and distances

The shortest races are for those under-14-years-old (on January 1st) and are 4k in length (around the aqueduct and back in Harlesden; two bridges up from Southall and back; From Greenford Quay to Western Avenue and back). So if you have paddled any of those, you can do it. Under 12s are in lightnings, 12 – 14 in standard racing boats.

Entry cost £5 if entered in advance

Divisions 7, 8, and 9 are 4 mile races, about twice the distance of the U14 race. Divisions 9 is aimed at younger paddlers

Entry cost £10 for juniors and £12 for Seniors.

Division 4, 5, and 6 races are about 16k and 1, 2 and 3 are 20k, we do have a paddler in these divisions, but for most of teh Club we are looking at teh lower divisions ( for now anyway).
