Race Overview
Get ready to experience the thrill of wild water racing with Fury at the Weir! This 500-meter sprint takes paddlers from the iconic Coppermill Lock through a scenic, adrenaline-packed course. Starting with a swift push towards the weir, racers will navigate the flow, glide under the road bridge, and race toward the white footbridge at the finish line. The course is largely flat, with some exciting waves near the weir (river left), making it perfect for both newcomers and experienced paddlers alike.
Race Format
The race consists of two runs, with the fastest time counting toward your final placement. This format gives you the chance to showcase your skills and improve your time on the course!
Who Can Join?
This event is open to paddlers of all levels — no experience required! Clubs are especially encouraged to bring their paddlers out for a fantastic day on the water. Whether you’re a first-time paddler or a paddling enthusiast, this is your chance to jump in and feel the rush of wild water racing.
Equipment & Safety
No boat? No problem! We offer a range of equipment for all paddlers, including GP boats, Slalom boats, Wavehoppers, Wild Water Racers, C1s, C2s and more — simply let us know in advance.
Full safety cover is provided to ensure a fun, secure experience for everyone.

Race fee includes participation in additional classes at no extra charge. Payment is accepted by cash or Direct Debit on race day.
How to Enter
Ready to join the race? Enter online at Wild Water Racing.
- Fill in Your Details: Enter your name, date of birth, and club name.
- Add Your Membership Number: Not sure? Just ask your coach.
- Choose Your Class:
- MK1 – Men’s Kayak
- WK1 – Women’s Kayak
- C1 – Canoe Singles
- C2 – Canoe Doubles
- Select Your Craft: Choose the boat type you’ll be racing in (WWR, Wavehopper, Slalom, or Open, etc).

- Main Parking: Troy Lake, Rickmansworth Sailing Club (A412 Denham Road/North Orbital Road, WD3 9YB)
- From here, you can paddle down the Troy Cut to the Grand Union Canal and up to the start.
