Sunday June 24th June
Things are starting to move forward and on Sunday 24th June, from noon onwards, we are organising a working party to clear the site at Rickmansworth Sailing Club, for our own boat store in Harefield. To get there us ether post code: WD3 9YB in your sat nav, for Google Maps Click here.
The construction of the boat store, will dramatically change the way we operate at Harefield and will lead to vast improvements in what the Club can offer and to the opportunities for paddlers who us ether Harefield site. As you can see from the map, there is direct access on to the water and a very short paddle (no more than 5 minutes to the weir at the Coy Carp). For more information contact Neal on 07951 770241 or email neal@thesharks.org.uk.
We need help, to clear and prepare the site, which we will do on Sunday June 24th from noon onwards. And if we can (i.e. if anybody is offering to do this) we will have a bar-b-que alongside to make it a proper Working Party. Who does not want to have fun knocking a building down?
This is the site and we need to knock it down, clear away the rubbish and the over grown trees etc, to reveal a concrete base on which we can then construct the boat store.
Once the base is cleared we will receive £2,000 of materials from Wicks, as part of funding deal with Volunteer it yourself. We will then need volunteers to help us contract the new boat shed, we will need skilled people to help manage and teach the volunteers to do the work, we are looking for a volunteer workforce between the ages of 14 and 24-years old. For the next phase.
Please not that during the clearing and construction, for safety reasons we cannot allow children under the age of 14-years-old on site.
Once the store is built, we will be able to run more sessions, more events and more activities. The Club will build on the relationship and partnership with Rickmansworth Sailing Club to create a truly great Club atmosphere and a truly great Club. As well as slalom boats and kit we will also be abel to store some racing boats there to enable people to try different disciplines and expand people’s experience and fun.
