A Mixed-Up Month
July proved to be a mixed moth for The Sharks, but as always we have risen to the challenge and the Club continues to grow and reach more people.
Competitively we have done well, although few opportunities for our paddlers. Early July was the second of the Llandysul slaloms and Rick Moore, kept his flying start to the season going.
And at the end of the month we had four paddler is in the London Youth Games, representing three different boroughs; Maya Boyle from Brent, Nicole Dosanjh (Ealing) and Eesa Hameed & Adam Hameed both Harrow.
We started a new partnership with Let’s Go Southall, which in its first day brought over 40 new people to come and try canoeing. Alas on the same day we had to move out of the Undercrofts we were using as our home, this is causing us some temporary operational problems, but as always we plan to come back stronger and better, so watch this space.
We made our sessions in Harlesden/Park Royal, NW10 even better.
We added extra session in at Osterley for the Summer Holidays and partnered Isleworth Town Primary School in running a holiday club for children in Osterley Park.
As the Government removed the last of the internal CoviD-19 restriction, amid rising Covid cases, The Sharks were amongst the victims of the new freedoms, having to cancel sessions as coaches and paddlers had to self isolate, so the first thing we would like to do is thank everybody for their support and understanding.
And of course we have had a return of the Great British Summer
