Next Barrow Race – Saturday
The next Barrow Race is on Saturday 7th December and starts at the earlier time of 10am.
The race is starting an hour earlier than previous races, which means we need to leave earlier to get there and be ready to race at 10am. In order to make the day as easy as possible for everyone we are suggesting that all those intending to race must enter online by Friday lunchtime, this means we will not have to check in on Saturday morning.
We also need to know who is racing and what boat they require to either be texted to 07951 770241, or emailed to canaoing@thesharks.org.uk, By Friday morning, this means we can load an prepare to travel in the morning saving the drivers transporting boats some time on Saturday morning.
This is the last Wild Water Race of 2024, so lets make it a great Shark day.
Barrow Upon Soar is about 120 miles from our sites in West London, depending on traffic about two-and-a-half hours to drive. The race normally starts at 11am and takes approximately 30 minutes, and you can then either go and relax in one of the fine local establishments and Loughborough has a number of them.
Shark paddlers regularly attend these events and have a good track record going back many years. Check out a previous visit. We will be supporting each event and the first one is Saturday 19th October and you can enter here.
This is a great development opportunity for all levels, beginners get to race an a great safe course, gain useful boat control skills and learn about the way rivers move, and experienced paddlers get a chance to race against other paddlers, so they can see how they are doing. Doing the races regularly can give you a sense of how you are improving and what you need to work on in training. You can use any boat to race, this is a Club that wants to get people active and involved, they welcome anyone who wants to race
