3 New races, 1 Returning and 4 Regulars

A great start to the new Barrow Wild Water Racing Serries that started last weekend. Congratulations to Ryo Lord, Carmel Lord, Charlie O’Donnell, and Kiyan Zand Lashani on making their debut. Welcome Back Adam Stewart, it has been a while.

An impressive 74 starts of which over 10% were Shark paddlers, let us see if we can boost this in the coming months.

So, who is making waves?

Ladies’ K1

Jasmin Uhlhorn was our fastest Paddler, using a racing K1 (we want to see you in a River Race next time), she took 18 minutes and 34.08 seconds to complete the 3k course, coming 6th over all.

Under 14 paddler Ryo Lord came 11th and 2nd under-14 in a time of 28:19.64, beating her mum, Carmel, into 12th place, whose time was 29:27.35. Both paddlers competed in slalom boats and therefor qualify for Wild Water Racing Points. They are ranked 79th and 80th in the national rankings with 574 and 469 points respectively.

Men’s K1

Returning athlete Adam Stewart to the top Shark spot coming 19th in a time of 14:36.98, he is now ranked 103rd in the UK after just one event. Great to see you back Adam.

Neal Underwood‘s time was 15:54.72 he was 3rd Veteran over 60 and 27th over all. He is currently ranked 37th and 5th V60.

Two new paddlers racing in Men’K1, both used slalom boats to complete the course: Charlie O’Donnell took 22:29.93, placing him 35t on the day and ranking him 185th.

The youngest individual ever to race for The Sharks was 7 year-old Kiyan Zend Lashani who completed the course in a time of 27:45.46 giving him 37th over all and first Under-8. His UK ranking is 207th and 2nd best U8 in the country!

The next Barrow Race takes place on Saturday 9th November, let’s make it an even better day for The Sharks, see how many people we can get there to race. Remember the more races you go to, the more fun you have and the more people at each race the more fun it is.
