And that was just the drive! Yest another weather affected race, this time it was storm Darragh causing havoc, but we still had four people racing on a revised course.
Storm force winds of 50mph, meant it was not suitable for less experienced paddlers to take part, reducing our team to four paddlers. The drive, although safe was slow and due to the high winds. The river was in flood necessitating for the course to be amended, to a down and back race from Barrow to Pilings Lock. However, congratulations to …

As always we would like to thank Soar Valley Canoe Club for hosting the event and managing to run an event in what were very challenging conditions. This is a great race and we urge all Shark paddlers (and any other paddlers reading this) to give it a try, it is normally a 3k race on the flowing River Soar, it is usually suitable for beginners (if you can paddle 3k, you can do it), it is a lot of fun and it gets you out for the day, doing something different. For more information give us a call/text on 07951 770241, email canoeing@thesharks.org.uk, or visit the Barrow Race Page.
