Things we want to achieve in 2025
Each year we set ourselves a list of challenges for the new year, so this is what we have so far, if you can think of any others please do email us: canoeing@thesharks.org.uk and make your suggestions. We will update the list as we go through the year.
Events
Let’s ease in gently to participate in 25 competitive events. This should be easy for us as we managed that last year.
To be involved in hosting 20 events – last year we managed 12.
Paddlers
25 Ranked Slalom paddlers – we had a total of 22 paddlers taking part in slaloms last year
25 Wild Water Racing paddlers – last year we had 18
25 Paddlers entering flat water events, either Sprint or Marathon – last year we had just 9, so we need a big improvement hear.
25 Podium finishes. We had 17 in 2024, although we did have a number of age group winners as well
25 age group firsts at events
Locations
To have Shark paddlers paddling at 25 different locations. We managed 22 last year but had a number of events cancelled due to extreme weather events.
Charity Fund Raising
Last year efforts by our members raised £2,815. So a target of £2,500 is too easy, so we think we should double it to £5,000.
If you are raising money for charity, please let us know and we will publicise it to help you on your way. email: canoeing@thesharks.org.uk.
Partners
To have 25 active partnerships in place, at present we have 21.
Staff and Volunteers
To have 25 paid staff working across our venues
To have an additional 25 voluntary people supporting the club’s activities.
20 qualified teachers/coaches.
