From Freezing to Basking in The Sun
Another active month for The Sharks, which started off with ice on the canal at Havelock, meaning we had to cancel a Sunday session and finished with temperatures that were positively Summerish.
Havelock has been the focus of mach activity and planning, We have been gradually acquiring new members and we were at the launch of the Social Prescribing initiative, of which we are proudly a part of.
We are still trying to progress, the Undercrofts Scheme at Havelock and had meetings with Sport England to discuss funding options and which were very positive. This will be a major site for us to rebuild our Racing Team at and we have some exciting news about coaches for or Race Team coming soon.
As well as meetings with regard to Southall, we have had a very positive meeting with the Old Oak Common and Park Royal Development Corporation and hope to announce some very exciting news soon, we will be holding new sessions in Harlesden/Park Royal from this Spring
Our Partnership with Brunel University Kayak Club, has enabled us to get some people to do some safety (spray deck) test in the swimming pool at Uxbridge
We took a trip to Shepperton Weir during the school half-term holidays to help paddlers prepare for up and coming slalom events, as well as running our usual slalom sessions at Harefield.
Monday race Sessions are now taking place in daylight as the evenings start to draw out and with the glorious weather of the past week or so, they have been most enjoyable.
The final weekend of February saw us at the Cowley Lock Open day, which was a really good day and an amazing way to end the month, thank-you to the Canal and River Trust.
