A flaying start to the year
January and February have been a very busy start to the year, both on the water and off the water, first of all a nod to our competitive Wild Water Racers that have been going through the Winter.
Wild Water Racing
The first race of the year took place on a crisp day at Barrow-upon-Soar, where a team of nine paddlers took part. Many recording personal best times.

In February we were back again for the Eastern Regional Championships, again nine paddlers making the trip, with more personal best times recorded. We now have Three Eastern Regional age group champions:
Abdullah Sayed: Under 8 Eastern Region Champion

Abdurrahman Syed: Under 10 Eastern Region Champion

Ivijah Campbell-Bryan: Under 14 Eastern Region Champion

Marathon Racing
The Cedric Avery Mini Marathons have been resurrected and we have been running them at Harefield during the Winter months and races took place in January and February.

Slalom
Slalom sessions have been taking place throughout the Winter on Sunday mornings at Harefield from 10:30am. Getting ready for the 2025 season which starts in March.
If you are interested in joining us give us a call/text on 07951 770241 or email slalom@thesharks.org.uk. If you are a ranked paddler, please remember to get your 2025 bib, that is all those in Division 3 and above.

Behind the Scenes
The Sharks are transitioning to become a Community Interest Company, this will enable us to take on more projects and get more people actively involved.
One of the main drivers behind this is our new and exciting Thamesmead project which is due to launch in May 2025.
We have also agreed to organise a number of events and activities this year with existing an new partners, so keep on coming back for news updates.
