Min–Marathon Results – Harefield Only a small number of paddlers but a start as we revive this once popular Winter Min-Marathon series, We did however have three new paddlers racing marathon – getting ready for our 2025 Hasler challenge.

This thrilling 500-meter regional sprint is perfect for all skill levels — from complete beginners to paddling enthusiasts looking for a winter challenge. With multiple boat types available and no extra charge for additional classes, it's an ideal event for clubs and paddlers alike. Dive into the excitement on November 30th, starting at Coppermill Lock in Harefield, and see how fast you can go as you race towards the white footbridge finish!
The October Slalom 5th & 6th. Please note due to high river levels this is now only a Division 2 event. Shepperton Divisions 2 and 3 slalom takes place on Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th October, time to get your entries in.
This event has been cancelled due to technical problems with pumps. This event takes place on the artificial course in Northampton, just over an hour’s drive from North West London. It is a great day out, with changing facilities and showers.
Saturday 21st & Sunday 22nd September Who wants a weekend of fun and paddling at Langham Farm, near Frome in Somerset? A weekend slalom, with practice and coaching, Team events and a Wild Water Race on Saturday, with a slalom on Sunday.
13 Sharks at Cardington The biggest ever sighting of Sharks at a canoeing event is expected on Saturday as 15 Shark paddlers are expected to race at Cardington.
A Shark Statement The Sharks stand with our communities, the abhorrent behaviour of the far right has no place in civilised society.
Saturday August 31st & Sunday 1st September. Suitable for all of our slalom paddlers, so why not enter and let us have a fun weekend at Cardington. Cardington is about 50 miles from London.
Rick in Action – another podium finish Our Slalom Coach, Rick Moore, was in action at Ironbridge Slalom on Sunday and took second place in the Men’s K1 Veterans event.
Divisions 3 and 4 – July 6th and 7th A fantastic opportunity for all our Division three and Four paddlers to take part in a local event at Shepperton on the River Thames on Saturday 6th July and Sunday 7th July, you can enter either day or both.
Time to get back into competitive slalom The 2024 slalom season is well underway and the event at Cardington gives the opportunity for all of our paddlers, both ranked and yet to be ranked to race at the same location, making for a great Club event for Divisions 2, 3, and 4.
Chapel Falls Slalom Results Our Slalom Coach Rick Moore has been leading by example, racing in the veterans events at the Chapel Falls slalom event on the River Tryweryn, near Bala, North Wales.
Wednesday 5:30 and Sunday 10:30 Our Summer timetable is now operating at Harefield, Wednesday evenings at 5:30pm and Sunday mornings at 10:30am. Please let us know if you are attending so we can ensure you get teh best form your session.
Our first Slalom of the Year Rick Moore was our first slalom racer of 2024, as he undertook the long trip to Pinkston, Glasgow to race in the Veteran’s Championships and the ranking race.
Rick Moore speaks to the BBC Raw sewerage being pumped into our rivers by water companies is a major issue to us all, but canoeist, along with other water sports, are particularly affected by the problem. A problem that is unique to Southern Britain!
The final in the Serries Just two paddlers for the final race of our Winter Marathon Serries, Malcolm Blowers from Meridian Canoe Club completed the 6.5 mile course in a time of 1 Hour, 16 minutes and 24.25 seconds.
Sunday March 24th – 10:30 The final race in our Winter Mini-Marathon serries takes place at Harefield on Sunday 24th March, meeting at our base at Troy Lake at 10:30am and race start at 11am.
Results of February’s Race After what was some of the heaviest rain we have had, canal levels (including the flow of the weir) were very high, but the sun came out for the race, just a shame so few paddlers.
Help us to Achieve and Achieve Yourself We are setting 24 targets for The Sharks this year, 24 things we want to achieve, all of these are dependent on how we help you to achieve. In order for anything to happen, the first thing we need to do is get people paddling.

Replacing the Tarpaulin at Harefield Thank you to the team who came to Harefield last Sunday to help us relace that tarpaulin on the top of the boat cage at Harefield.
We are recruiting teachers and coaches for 2024. Operating at many sites in West London, and in many disciplines The Sharks offer amazing opportunities for qualified instructors to get involved in every aspect of paddlesport. And we pay very well

Monthly Mini-Marathons The Sharks have reintroduced their monthly Marafun events, Mini-Marathons for fun, fitness and training. Two seasons, Summer and Winter, Seasonal medals and seasonal Club Championship.
Mini-Marathons are back at Harefield December 2023, saw the return of mini-marathons to Harefield with the revamp of the Cedric Avery Winter Marafun serries.
Slow Down Please Probably not what you would be expecting to read on our website, but please do read, especially if you are visiting our Harefield site. The track along to the Sailing Club is not great and with current weather conditions, it is getting worse and more difficult to maintain.

Richard Davis Congratulations to Richard Davis in becoming the 2023 Over 80s and over 85s National Masters Slalom Champion.
Sundays at 10:30am Harefield Sessions will take place on Sunday mornings at 10:30am, the sessions are open to anyone and new members are always welcome. Each session cost £6 per person.

What a great event! On Saturday 23rd September The Sharks hosted a Vintage (1985 rules) Slalom at the Lee Valley, along side the World Championships and it was a great day, old boats and some slightly older people having fun.
Last Friday of the Month Working with our partners at Horsenden Primary School, we are now able to offer free pool sessions on the last Friday of each month (not December), from 7pm till 8:15pm, we will use these sessions for two main purposes, safety work and rolling practice.

Division one results Congratulations to Rick Moore, taking 5th spot in the Veterans K1 event at Holme Pierrepont. he is now ranked fifth in the National Rankings for Veteran Men.
A very good month for paddling The weather in August was patchy, but the attendance at Shark activities was defiantly not, we were involved in a lot of sessions with partner groups across our sites, delivery Summer holiday activates for people of all ages.
Two days of racing at Shepperton Slalom proved good for Shark Paddlers in Division 3 and C2.
The Barrow Series This Wild Water Race is suitable for all standards. It is 3k on a twisty moving stream with no rocks and is a fun way to get into the finest of sports.
