September 2024

A wet month, but a busy month

During September we had over 100 regular new paddlers attending each week! Working with our partners and local schools, this is a brilliant achievement.

Starting the new term with Harlesden Primary School, Sybille Elgar School and Three Bridges Primary School.

The will read, write and solve problems after kayaking down the canal – priorities correct!

Our Osterley Session ran till the end of September and of course we had our regular club sessions at Harlesden, Harefield, and Southall. We also resumed our Pool Sessions at Horsenden School.

Competition

Competitions were somewhat disrupted partly due to the weather and some technical issues.

We started at Cardington slalom on the 1st September.

The Nene Slalom was cancelled due to technical issues with the water pumps.

Elmbridge Marathon has been postponed due to River Conditions, too much rain.

Langham Farm took place, but was curtailed due to rising river levels.

And …

Congratulations to Fleur Harman who completed her Summer of Triathlons to raise money for the Sepsis Trust. She has so far raised £1810, you can still donate here.

We were involved with Southall Community Trust, providing canoeing opportunities in Spikes Bridge Park at their Come and Try it Sports Day.
