Several new paddlers went over to Kingsland Basin division 4 (entry level) slalom on Saturday and gave some great performances.
On a nice sunny day in North London, paddlers had a great day of fun and competition, with paddlers ranging from 9-years-old to some in their mid fifties! Clearly canoe sport is a sport for all! And the team which consisted of more women than men!
And Shark Girl Ella Conroy took second place in her first ever event and gaining promotion to national division 3 in Ladies Kayak, Tallulah Lacey was first Junior 16. The other Shark paddlers were: Magan Rice, Grace Hanmore, Issey Nelson, Ellen Butcher and Caitlin Edwards.
Amelia Combes swapped her Kayak for a Canoe and won the women’s C1 event.
In the men’s Kayak event, James Reed took bronze and was also promoted to national division 3, James also too second place in the Men’s Canoe singles. Khaleel Zianddin, Alexander Brennan, James Hanmore and Eamon Brennan made up the rest of the team.
The Sharks believe in diversity and all paddlers are encouraged to try different events and in the Canoe doubles event; Sharks dominated, with Grant Underwood and Grace Hanmore taking first place, leaving club coaches Neal Underwood and Beata Fabińska in third, Other crews were: Amelia Combes and Ella Conroy, Mandy Combes and James Reed, Amelia Combes and Megan Rice, James Hanmore and Khaleel Zainddin, Grant Underwood and Alexander Brennan, Tallulah Lacey and Issey Nelson, Ellan Butcher and Caitlin Edwards.
