Division 2 Slalom
Due to recent rainfall the River Thames was high, last weeks Marathon at Elmbridge had been postponed, and this week’s slalom was Division 2 only as it was big water and not deemed fit for Division 3 paddlers. So, …
Well done to Ivijah Campbell-Bryan a division 3 paddler who entered the Officials event and raced the course. He came 7th in the Officials race, racing against people from higher divisions, some in Premier.
Officiating at events is an important thing and a great experience. Without officials, we do not have a sport, so please just because an event is not your division, doesn’t mean you can race and can’t have fun.
Khaleel Ziauddin took the honours of being The Sharks top paddler on both days, taking 12th place on Saturday and 9th on Sunday, earning him at total of 325 points, brining his season total to 517, he is in 51st place just 7 places and 125 points above Grant Underwood, who also raced at the weekend.
Surprisingly the second Shark on each day was M60, Neal Underwood who was 14th and 11th, Daniel Greening was squeezed in between Khaleel and Neal on both days. Neal now has a total of 258 points and is 66th in Division 2. Neal was also first Master on Sunday.
Grant Underwood took 15th place on Saturday and 12th on Sunday, collecting 110 points over the weekend.
Many Thanks to our friends at Shepperton Slalom Canoe Club for hosting another great event. You did a great job and a brilliant course given the difficulties regarding high water levels.
