Well done to Adam Stewart, Grant Underwood, James Prowse, and Rod Grundy on a brilliant performance yesterday at Thameside 2 19mile Marathon race.
Many thanks to the support crew: Angie, Mandy, Amelia and Neal on supporting the athletes during the race, making sure they are well hydrated and fed!
Adam was 2nd Junior K1 Men, competing for the first time in Marathon, with an outstanding time of 3hrs01mins. James Prowse competed in the Senior C1 Men alongside Grant Underwood in the Senior K1 Men, both paddlers were outstanding from start to finish, however were not given a time due to everyone in the ‘fast starts’ being disqualified after two false starts. Despite 20 odd paddlers waiting at the start line, including our paddlers. Rod Grundy paddled equally well in the Senior K1 Men, but had to retire after feeling unwell.
It was a great race, with great performances. Well done to all, and thanks to Reading Canoe Club for running the event. Photos and videos are soon to come.
Additionally well done to Ally Judge on a brilliant 3rd place in the ladies K1 at the Andrew Bundy Memorial Race.
