The Great Harlesden Canoe Race

Inter company Charity Canoe Race

The Sharks launched their new inter company (or any other organisation wanting to get involved) charity canoe race on Friday 31st May. A test event was run between McVitie’s Biscuits, Garden Studios, and OPDC.

The challenge was for a team of four people to paddle two tied together (longways) open canoes over a distance of 500 metres.

The Winning team was McVitie’s Biscuits in a time of 3 minutes and 20 seconds.

Runners up in a time of 3:44 were Garden Studios.

And OPDC in third.

Thanks very much to everybody who took part and the very vocal supporters on the bank makin this inaugural test event a huge success. We now intend to expand the even and run it as a regular charity fund raiser split between the Mayor of Brent’s chosen charities each year and the Queens Park Rangers Community Trust, with whom we have a partnership.

We need to hear from companies, clubs or any organisation, which can provide 4 people to race and willing to donate at least £50 to charity.

The format is simple, we will have heats of 4 teams racing, with the winning team going through to a final (if we have more than 16 teams we will host Semi-finals as well. So who is interested? Please contact us call/text on 07951 770241 or email:canoeing@thesharks.org.uk.

And if anybody can bring a drone with a video camera next time, please do.
