Khaleel Zianddin was competing in his first National Division 3 slalom at Llandysul at the weekend and put in good performances, which show promise for the future. Amelia had a top half finish on both days and is looking good for a high position in 2016.
Llandysul is a good natural course. with good flowing water on the River Teffi in South Wales and with heavy rain for most of Saturday the river started to rise and changing the flow particularly at the bottom set of rapids and most paddler second runs were full of penalties on this section. Amelia came ninth and added 500 ranking points to her total, whilst Khaleel came in 17th and collected his first 238 points.
The sun shone on Sunday and a stable river flow helped Amelia to improve her time on the second run, giving her 10th place and 526 points. Khaleel’s first run was his best, he was 19th and collected 182 points.
The points tally for both paddlers is enough to ensure their ranking statuses for 2017 and now the challenge is to gain promotion for both paddlers.
